It’s a pleasant surprise when a story from your childhood comes back to entertain you many years after the fact. Many of us have strong feelings for characters and stories from when we were young that can sometimes not live up to their true fulfillment as adults. Paddington was a film, at first glimpse, that appeared to potentially fall under that umbrella.

Truth be told, by films end the new 2015 adaption of the classic bear in the blue coat does in fact hold up to a 21st century childhood generation and old fans that are now parents. Paddington is a classic tale of a young, ambitious adolescent who’s curiosity in a new world gets him into trouble – trouble that only appears to escalate at every attempt to make it right. However, at the center of the main characters heart is a beautiful, yet innocent truth and desire to find love, while at the same time helping those around him discover it as well.

Paddington is a surprising film for both children and adults alike. It has enough substance and humor to hold the attention of both demographics while depicting a straight forward story about a strange creature in an even stranger world. Throughout the movie, fans will be entertained as Paddington seeks to understand and comprehend the new world he finds in while helping the Brown family who adopted him, find a part of themselves.

If you grew up a fan of the classic story or television show, chances are this film will bring you back to the days of your early childhood. However, if you’re complete unfamiliar with the character or his story, this newer, redefined version will easily introduce and entertain even the less enthusiastic individual.

Check out Paddington in theaters January 16th, 2015.
