According to the official press release, on August 11th, 2014 at 11:55am Robin Williams was found unresponsive at his residence located in Tiburon, CA. Williams was pronounced deceased at 12:02pm with the cause of death initially suspected to be suicide by asphyxia, but this cannot be confirmed until a formal investigation is completed.

Robin Williams was a talented actor and comedian that earned numerous awards for his role in film and television; including but not limited to Mork & Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam, Goodwill Hunting, and Mrs. Doubtfire. He was well known for giving explosive and enthusiastic performances both on-screen and during his live shows. But probably his most memorable live performance was when he returned to the stage after 15 years.

Williams did his fourth standup special Live on Broadway in 2002 and audiences really got to experience the passion, intensity, and devotion he had for his art. He delivered his lines at an unrelenting pace and would transition to new topics so abruptly that onlookers were left just trying to keep up. Unlike similar scenes that he did for television and film that only lasted a few minutes, this barrage of wit and creativity went on uninterrupted for 90 minutes. Williams never dialed down his energy at any point during the show and used the entire stage to deliver a magnificent performance.  By the end of the night Williams could have been mistaken for a man who just ran a marathon and the crowd showed their gratitude for his wildly energetic routine with a full standing ovation.

Robin Williams spirited contribution to the world of comedy brought a new meaning to showmanship and he sure will be missed.
